Jacob's New Project

October 31, 2012

</p

I have absolutely no idea what this is (exactly), nor how it works…but, Jacob wanted a personal drink cooler for his room, and he has apparently built it himself.

Then, he realized if he added a small piece of foil, he could have his own personal air conditioner. I'm not sure why he would want one in late October, but if you know Jacob, you know he stays hot pretty much all the time so it makes sense. :/

New Sparkle Shoes- Thrifted Finds

October 4, 2012

Many of you know Emma has had a long-time love for those Wizard of Oz red sparkle shoes.

We found her a pair a couple of years ago. Of course, she’s grown and they have not. She wore them proudly, pretty much everywhere we went for that period of time.

She’s missed them. I’ve looked for a replacement and finally found one:

They were new, with tags(!), at the local thrift store!!

While we were there, Courtney and I also happened upon a light fixture (also with tags from a local lighting store!). For $6 we couldn’t resist.

We had a little help from Jacob–

and now we have this:

Wow! It made such a nice difference outside of our door.

I wish I had taken a “before” picure. We had a small light- this is so much better.

It’s amazing what you can find at those thrift stores!

Still Working ….

April 22, 2012

We are still working to clean our backyard from last year’s storms.

Our damage was limited to the trees in our yard. Looking around other areas of our state, it could have been much worse! We’re thankful to just have trees to cut.

We finally purchased a new chainsaw a couple of weeks back. It’s really been a long-needed tool in our home.

Jacob, has spent his extra time cutting apart trees and directing our younger family members on how to sort the pieces. Some, we’re planning to chip up for garden mulch. Others, we’re hoping to use as firewood for our home.

These are the latest pictures from our backyard….it doesn’t look like much, but he has done a massive amount of work on these trees!

Progress!

April 19, 2012

Paul has now finished his degree. He’s still waiting to graduate, but now, we’re ordering graduation announcements and enjoying the extra time with him.

While he’s had a little more free time, he’s been working on my pantry. I’m SO very excited! We’ve needed one for a long time.

He and Jacob have worked most of the afternoon, and will work some tomorrow, as well.

Jacob had already installed flooring in this room:

This is the same “plywood to plank” flooring we’ve been installing through the rest of our home. He completed this floor by himself! (Please excuse the mess….it’s an active construction site at the moment.)
